FAQ Section:
Q: Can I still use a physical key?
A: Yes — most smart locks retain a key cylinder. Best of both worlds.
Q: What happens if the battery dies?
A: Wireless locks warn you for weeks before dying. Most also have a 9V battery jumper on the outside or a physical key backup.
Q: Wired or wireless — which is better?
A: For new construction? Wired — no batteries, rock solid. For existing homes? Wireless — no wire pulling, works great.
Q: Can I add access control to my existing security system?
A: Often yes — especially with DSC, Elk, or 2Gig. We’ll check compatibility.
Q: Can I give a temporary code to a house guest?
A: Yes. Set a code that works only for specific days and hours. Then delete it remotely.
Q: Will it work without Wi-Fi?
A: Wireless locks need Wi-Fi for remote access and app control. But the keypad and physical key still work locally. Wired systems work without Wi-Fi.
Q: Can I control access from my phone?
A: Yes — all systems we install have mobile app options.
Q: Do you install access control for gates or garages?
A: Yes — gates, garage doors, front doors, side entrances, interior offices. Any door.
Q: What’s the difference between a smart lock and access control?
A: Smart lock (Yale, Schlage) is consumer-focused — great for one or two doors. Access control (HID, CDVI) is professional-grade — designed for multiple doors, fobs, and central management.
Q: Can I start with one wireless lock and add wired doors later?
A: Yes — we can layer systems. Start simple, expand when you’re ready.
