Q: Can my cameras record 24/7?
A: Yes — Luma and ELAN can record continuously. Ring records only motion events (unless you add Ring’s 24/7 recording plan).
Q: Do I have to pay monthly fees?
A: For Luma? No — local storage, no subscription. For Ring? Optional subscription required for video history. For security monitoring? Yes — typically $20–$50/month for professional monitoring (varies by provider).
Q: Will my security system work if the internet goes down?
A: Most panels (DSC, 2Gig, Elk) have cellular backup. SimpliSafe has cellular + Wi-Fi. Your alarm still works. Cameras may lose remote viewing until internet returns.
Q: Will my cameras work if the power goes out?
A: Only if you have battery backup (UPS) for your NVR or router. We can add that. Most doorbell cameras will not work during a power outage.
Q: Can I see my cameras on my TV?
A: Yes — through your video distribution system or automation interface. Doorbell rings? Camera feed can pop up on the living room TV automatically.
