Lighting design that disappears. Fixture installation that shines.

Every fixture, every placement, every scene — all designed around how you live.

Proudly partnered with Harper Electric for licensed electrical work.
We design the light. Harper Electric installs it. Lutron and the user control it.
Why do I need lighting designed?
| Problem | Our Solution |
|---|---|
| Walls are typically covered in dimmers (six switches at one entry, otherwise known as “Wall Acne.“ | One keypad replaces them all. |
| You buy beautiful fixtures, but they flicker with dimmers. | We spec compatible fixtures or add proper modules. |
| Electrician installs fixtures but doesn’t understand scenes. | We design scenes, Harper installs, we program. |
| Inconsistent light temperature room to room. | We specify same CCT and dimming curve everywhere. |
“Fixtures and controls should be designed together. Not as an afterthought.”

“How do I design lights?”
You don’t need to become a lighting designer. You just need to tell us how you plan to live in each room. We handle the rest — fixtures, placement, panels, and programming.
The Process:
| Step | What Happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Consultation | Walk your home or review your new floor plans. Discuss how you live — morning coffee, dinner parties, movie nights, bedtime. |
| 2. Fixture Selection | We recommend fixtures (recessed, pendants, sconces, under-cabinet, landscape) — or work with yours. |
| 3. Panelized Layout | Design the central panel, load grouping, and keypad locations. |
| 4. Scene Programming | “Good morning,” “Dinner,” “Movie,” “Evening,” “Away” — all customized. |
| 5. Harper Electric Install | Licensed electricians mount fixtures, run wire, terminate panels — permitted and inspected. |
| 6. Integration | Tie lighting to your distributed audio and video — one system, one feel. |
LED/Low Voltage Lighting Benefits:
Saving on your electric bill is just the beginning. Here’s what else low voltage lighting brings to the table.
| Benefit | What It Means for You |
|---|---|
| Safer installation | Low voltage (12V or 24V) carries minimal shock risk — safer for you, safer for your electrician |
| Smaller wire, easier runs | Thin wire fits anywhere — behind crown molding, under cabinets, through tight spaces |
| No conduit required | In many jurisdictions, low voltage wiring can run without metal conduit — cleaner install, lower cost |
| Integrated with panelized lighting | Low voltage fixtures pair perfectly with Lutron panelized systems — smooth dimming, no flicker |
| UL listed for inside walls | Low voltage wire can be buried in walls without junction boxes at every fixture (check local code) |
| Perfect for tight spaces | Under cabinets, inside display cases, stair risers, coves, and niches |
| Lower heat output | Runs cooler than line voltage — safer near fabrics, artwork, or woodwork |
| Fixture variety | Pucks, tape light, discreet adjustable heads, linear strips — endless design flexibility |
| Dimmable down to 1% | Low voltage LED with the right driver dims beautifully — no pop-off or flicker at low levels |
| Ideal for landscape lighting | 12V outdoor fixtures are standard — safe near wet soil, easy to reposition |
FAQ Section
Q: Do I need to rewire my whole house for panelized lighting?
A: For a full panelized system (Lutron HomeWorks), yes — it’s best for new builds or major renovations. For RadioRA 3, no new wiring is needed. We’ll tell you which path fits your home.
Q: Can I add lighting control one room at a time?
A: Absolutely. RadioRA 3 is perfect for that. Start with the living room, add the bedroom next year. No pressure to do it all at once.
Q: What’s the difference between RadioRA 3 and panelized?
A: RadioRA 3 is wireless dimmers and keypads — retrofits easily. Panelized hides every dimmer in a central panel — invisible control, best for new construction or deep renos.
Q: Do I have to use Harper Electric for fixture installation?
A: We strongly recommend them — they know our systems and standards. But we can work with your licensed electrician if you prefer.
Q: Can you install fixtures I already bought?
A: Yes, as long as they’re dimmable and compatible. We’ll test one before committing to the whole house.
Q: What if I don’t know what fixtures I want?
A: We can recommend brands (Elco, DMF, Halo, Tech Lighting, Visual Comfort) or connect you with a lighting showroom.
Q: Will low voltage fixtures work with my existing wiring?
A: Sometimes — but low voltage typically requires a transformer and new wire runs. Great for new builds or targeted retrofits (under-cabinet, landscape, coves).
Q: Isn’t low voltage lighting just for under-cabinet strips?
A: Not anymore. Low voltage now includes recessed pucks, adjustable accents, tape light, landscape, and linear pendants — way more options than people realize.
Q: Do low voltage fixtures dim as well as line voltage?
A: Better, actually — especially with a Lutron panel and compatible driver. You can dim down to 1% without flicker or pop-off.
Q: Will my lights still work if the internet goes down?
A: Yes. Lutron has its own reliable wireless protocol (Clear Connect). Your lights, keypads, and scenes work fine without Wi-Fi.
Q: How does lighting talk to my audio and video system?
A: Through your control system (Control4, Crestron, Elan, Savant) or direct integration. Push “Movie” — lights dim, shades lower, audio switches, TV turns on.
Q: Can I still use a normal light switch sometimes?
A: Yes. We can design hybrid systems — keypads in main areas, standard switches in closets or utility rooms. Whatever feels natural to you.
Q: Who pulls the permit?
A: Harper Electric handles all permits and inspections when they do the installation.
Q: This all sounds expensive. Is it?
A: It can be — but we have options for every budget. A single-room RadioRA 3 starter is very approachable. A whole-home panelized system is an investment. We’ll quote both and let you decide.
